The largest book store chain in America, Barnes & Noble operates over 800 stores across the country.
The Union Square store is an impressive, handsome six-story structure with a huge selection and often hosts major author events. It has a Starbucks café and various departments covering nearly every type of book, magazine, music and movie possible.
William Barnes, with partner G. Clifford Noble, opened the first Barnes & Noble store in Manhattan in 1917 on West 15th Street. In 1971, Leonard Riggio purchased the company and turned it into the successful, public corporation it is today. |
